throttle sensitivity question

    i just bought a new leftover '05 this is my first injected bike and im having trouble getting use to the sensitivity/transition of the throttle from no load to load, making it difficult for nice smooth shifts while riding gently, is this common with this bike? can any adjustments be made? or should i suck it up, be a man, and get used to it? :confused: go ahead, be honest, i can take it!!

    Unfortunatlly like various other fuel injected motorcycles the VTec is known to have a sensitive throttle...First question is what Rev's you mostly cruise around in, the VFR 800 likes to be above 4000rpm...

    Some people have play around with throttle cable tension as too tight or loose can add to the problem, if not others have ultimatly fixed with PC3 and o2 eliminators...

    Thanks for that input John. I was having the same issue with my 05. I was cruising around 2500 to 3000 RPMs and shifting up at 4000. I will have to try riding at 4000 to see how things feel

    Might help to use 4000 as your lowest Rpm, especially in the higher gears, even if truddling sit mostly within 4 to 6k.

    Gotten used to the throttle thing your talking about.When the girl's on the back I shift in the 2-4000rpm range,different story solo.The throttle is a bit touchy,Igot used to it and kinda' like it on my 'Gentlemans bike',(Yea right!).You,ll get used to it,enjoy the ride,VFRS ROCK!

    Like John451 said, get the PC III and the bike will be much more liveable. Gone will be the flat spots and much of the on/off throttle response. I'm ready to start playing with the "Accelerator Pump" functionality to see if it will smooth it out more.

    +1 for the PCIII fixing the 'snatchy' throttle, mid range flat spot, and low end burbles.

    I just added the free 'fuel pump' software to the PCIII and it's pretty freaking cool. I have it set so when I'm at 85% throttle is dumps in 20% more gas for 20 RPMs. So when I really twist it up I get extra gas :) I also loaded the M126-003 map which is for "Staintune slip-on exhaust with or without baffles, Stock or aftermarket air filter, Dynojet O2 eliminator kit". I have drilled pipes, O2 kit, and K&N filter and the map works freaking awesome. Riding after loading the map was the first time I thought, "This bike has more power than I'll ever use."

    What is this "drilled can" thing. What are you guys doing to the cans? Can you elaborate a little on the subject? Thanks.. Trying to save some bucks and new pipes are not in the buget yet..

    Save your bucks to add Staintunes / Microns later, they look better & weigh less. :cool: Much better to save your exhausts for a freshen up and when you have to sell...
