I need to flex my hand to keep from getting a throttle cramp. I bought a Vista lock like I had put on previous bikes but the throttle on the '14 VFR won't accept it. There's a ridge under the rubber that gets in the way. What have other VFR riders installed?

I've got one of these on my 6th gen with heated grips (universal fit). I've bought 2 of them now and I don't think I'll ever look at another type again ...

Jeff: Thanks for the recommendation on the Atlas throttle lock. I've ordered one and hope this solves my problem.

Hey John, is your 2014 a Deluxe? If so, let us know how the install goes with the factory heated grips. I want an Atlas as well, but all my research still leaves me without a solid answer on the 8th gen installation.

Let me know how you like it! Love mine!

My only tip in installation is to not over tighten the clamp or it will deform the throttle tube and prevent the throttle from turning freely.

DriverDave, I believe the owner (David Winters) guarantees it fits.

I checked the Throttlemeister web site and the dimensions they list for the handlebar i.d. are bigger than what I see on my 2014 by a couple of mm. Are the handlebars different on different years? Or maybe Throttlemeister needs to put a dimensional diagram on their page, in case I'm measuring the wrong way.

Not a clue. Call them. I have a set on a 25 year old VFR that have been on there for years plus surviving a tip over that bent one of the Helibars that were installed so long ago that I forgot when and the folks at Heli made me up a custom set in a one off deal at standard prices. This is not some mega-corporation outfit. Notice too you also get a bar weight for the left bar end.

It could be that their website just needs an upgrade.. unless it is thought that IT dudes are perfect... NOT! ;)

One major feature of the Throttlemeister is that it has a full range adjustability from essentially zero tension to "ya really gotta crank down on the sucker".

...and the whole set up doesn't look like the bottle opener on a Swiss Army Knife..

Thanks, I sent them an email. The product listing on their web site ends at 2009 for the VFR800 so I may be out of luck with them, but it would be good to get a reply.

Email Throttlemeister, they have just about everything covered even odd bar dimensions like on Convertibars. He will get back to you.

I think he's already ordered the Atlas Throttle Lock - he won't have any complaints about it. It works awesome.

I'm not a fan of bar-end throttle locks myself.

Thanks, but I have a Swiss Army Knife, a Leatherman, a SOG and way too many church keys as it is.

The Throttlemeister is unlike those elcheapo bar end plastic gadgets in that it does not "lock" the throttle position.

The combined weight of the matched bar ends in stainless steel and I think bronze has, according to some, a damping effect on the bars.

Maybe he has another bike or I am swaying him with my pitch? ;)

LOL ... I know Throttlemesiter are quality, but so is this Atlas, and I can operate it with my thumb more easily than a bar end style lock. :)

Operating the Throttlemeister with a thumb would have to be done between upshifts and waving at harleydoods. I use me pinkie..

Even at full tension the throttle is not locked and can be rotated in either direction. A better ergonomic and muscle memory configuration IMO.

As to all the baggage, bags and having to be surrounded with 75% of all one's worldly stuff on a bike, someday maybe Winnebago will make motorcycles.

Back in the olden daze, Atlas and Ajax were more popular then mostly because they both started with "A" and of course hero to all those dudes who got sand kicked in their faces by bullies, The Mighty Charles Atlas..

    After Charles came Arnie then:

Do you guys get those really big Cuban stogies up there? I the Atlas Throttle Lock gets upgraded and it's one of those must have items, the old one maybe could be used as a cigar cutter.

    ;)

I do have to draw the line on a cruise control. Next thing ya know, Google is gonna come up with a self driving motorcycle for the guy who only thinks he's full up with farkles..

Yes, we do get big 'ol cuban cigars up here. :)

And yes, I agree ... no need for the additional weight of a cruise control. :)

In time we are next.. Man, if Cuba legalizes pot someday...Look oot!

IMO the more crap that is stacked on a bike, heavy or not, is just one more thing that takes the attention to the road both negative and positive from the attention of the rider.

This does include my bar mounted 15" plasma TV permanently tuned to the Oprah channel and the surround sound speakers.

I've been thinking about a mini-projector to mount on my handlebars for movie nights around the campfire for some of my trips ...
