Buddy of mine just texted me from a ride gone bad- the throttle cable on his girlfriend's FZR broke during their ride. Anyone have a neat fix on the rode? My suggestion was double up on his bike to the shop for a part or ride home, but running the cable will be a pain on the side of the road. Anyone?

The FZR is a mid 90's 600 that she got for ~$1.5K It was not well taken care of and it is starting to show.

I did a quick search and did not find anything that was a good fix in the field. I guess spare clutch and throttle cables are indispensible for the long treks folks do...

I thread a spare cable up beside the current one and zip tie it in a few places. Once the old one snaps, the new one is really ready to slip in- no threading stuff in the dark on the side of the road, etc.
