Thoughts on '89 VTR 250

One just popped up on CL. Need a little plastic and TLC. $450obo. My son is 12 and I was wondering if this would be a good project leading to a starter bike. Any thoughts???

 

My father in law had a VTR250 for a few years and it was a fantastic bike to ride.

 

Gone. It lasted 12 hrs

 

It's an adorable little charmer, and i was gonna recommend u jump on it. I have two and a half and love them in a strange way, even though one blew up at 40K. (WFO !!!)
