Hey all, wondering if you can provide some insight while I sit here in my living room during the aftermath of Dorian which thankfully spared us. In any case, I have two of my bikes in here with me and of course the point of this thread focuses around the VFR (6th gen). I've noticed a slight drip of seemingly oil since I got the bike a couple weeks ago. As she sits for a couple days, there will only be a drip on the ground, not much. However, I decided to take a few pictures from under the bike as well as a video which shows a bit more detail. The "drip" comes from the right side of the bike just about where the top of the center stand is and it spreads onto the exhaust pipe and cat. As I look under the bike I see a mess of shininess all along the pan and my guesses are maybe the oil pan gasket or one of the valve cover gaskets. I won't really know until I can get her out into my work shed and put her in the air. But this is where you come in... What are your thoughts? I appreciate any chiming in.

What does the oil filter look like? That does appear to be clean engine oil, the oil filter is at the front of the motor and would result in the oil spreading back along the pan.

I plan on cleaning it when I get everything out of my work shed that we threw in there while hurricane prepping. Figured I'd get a jumpstart here and open up for some ideas.

In the video I took the filter area looks clean. Mind you I was laying on my back with the phone cam doing the actual looking. Lol

Yeah, power washing not happening, haha. I got the work shed cleaned out last night and she's on the lift. Tonight I'll get the fairings off and rinse down the lower part of the engine with Formula 88 and examine the area in more detail.

I had a chance this evening to get more into this. The stock cam chain tensioners have been replaced with manual adjusting ones. I found a pic on EBay (the red and black parts). If you look at the threading there is fresh oil all over it. There is an o-ring under the securing nut and I'm thinking just tightening that nut should suffice. However, I don't think this is the sole source of the oil leak, but you never know as simply one drop of oil can spread into an ugly mess in no time.
