As some of you may know, I have been on the hunt for a nice 2007 RWB and today I went to look at one that was indeed pretty nice. 13K miles, sargent seat, throttlemiester, zero gravity double bubble and stock everything else. $6500. Gave the bike a good going over and it was clean but the chain seemed worn and I think the tires had more miles than he said (1800 miles). Not a huge deal and I gave it a good going over. Seemed to run very nicely. Than I rode it.........

I currently own a very nice 5th Gen with 24k (modded with exhaust, seat, suspension, RR, etc) so i had that to compare it too. Well let me say that I was a bit let down by the VTEC motor.......that thing in my opinion, does not compare the 5th gen motor at all! It just felt sluggish on the bottom and not so eager to rev. It definitely had less guts on the bottom. Maybe I am spoiled by my 5th gen but I realized what a jewel of a motor/bike I have and I decided to pass on getting a 6th gen altogether!

Went home, hugged my bike and decided to keep it!

No disrespect to my fellow 6th gen owners but I have to say I was dissapointed in that motor :frown:

I had a drink. So I am over it. Just think, you saved yourself $6500 and still have a ride so this is good news for you. Sucks to be the vendor though, but I don't think he will have too much trouble selling at that price.

Just hugging the bike ain't gonna cut it. Now that you realize you what you almost gave up, you should talk to your beloved 5th gen and take her out today and rekindle the spark that you were missing. :)

Perhaps if they made the 6th and 7th in Pearl Yellow it would give them the BHP they seem to be missing?
My Dad scoffed at my blonde bombshell the first time he saw pictures, he's a ST1300 snob, after 6 months he admitted he's interested and finally sat on Valentino. I think he sees what we know. I suspect he'll be eyeballing an Interceptor before his 8 week vacation is over in August.
Glad you came to your senses before you made a costly error, no offense to my 6th and 7th brothers, but you know you'd be hard pressed to get your 5th back if you'd sold it.

Definitely glad you did not make a $6500 mistake. The 6th Gen is not for everyone. I went from a 5th Gen to a 6th Gen in 2007. My friend actually ended up buying my 5th Gen and we rode together many times and switched bikes. For me, the 6th Gen was sharper handling and I thought it was a draw in the motor department. I personally did not notice any significant differences between the two motors. The only real change was that on my 6th Gen, I did go +2 on the rear sprocket because of things I had read about the stock gearing being too high. So my comparison was based on that. The 5th Gen is still and awesome bike, so if you don't need to go newer, then why do it. The bike will last you many more years at only 24K miles.

Hmmm....never thought about the gearing....going up two would definitely even it out. I will say that I liked how the bike rode overall and I still LOVE the RWB's!! I am still going to look for the "right one". The one I looked at had a few things that I didn't feel the owner was honest about and and he couldn't even remember when he changed the oil last! Red Flag for me. The Chain had 3" of slack and was at the back of the wear limits and the Michelin Sportecs that "supposedly" had 1800 miles had big flat spots worn in the back and the front and it wanted to fall into turns really badly. The bags he had were off of Ebay and one had so much road rash it wore through the plastic! Bottom line is this was a 6000-6200 dollar bike that he would not budge on. I still want to find a well cared for 07 with an exhaust and bags. I will order a sprocket for it if I get one, hehehe :potstir:

Trust me no disrespect meant...it's not that the bike does not have power...it does....it just delivers it quite differently. Stock gearing and exhaust are probably no help either. :)

Hehe...no worries and that's appreciated! I decided I am going to try and fanagle this guy down to a more appropriate price and if he bites, I may still get. :)

Based on your explanation of the bike and ride experience, you may want to move on. It does not sound like it was up to par. There are other RWB bikes out there and you've still got your 5th Gen, so the wait won't be so bad.

I'm on my third 6th gen now after a pair on nice 02's I found my current 07 and now that it is on the road, I'm happy with my choice. That being said, the 02's didn't ride or run like my 07 does. In fact I wasn't very happy with them stock and even after instaling a pipe and a power commander. My current bike has the PC V with auto-tune and a TBR exhaust as well as being one tooth up on the front sprocket (opposite of the usual mods). It has no flat spots or hesitation. It starts, warms up and idles perfect and when you twist its tail, it moves well. But that's a lot of mods $$$ to get a bike to run like it should out of the box IMHO.

The 6th gen feels skinnier between your legs and it is nimble. I think the stock seat is better too but overall, I would like it more if the cams were gear driven and all the valves worked all the time. Now that I'm all set up I wouldn't go back to a fifth gen but if I was planning to do more track days and a V4 was a must, it would be a 5th gen all day long.
