On my way home from work this morning I decided to stay on the highway instead of pulling off at my exit. Up the road I see another bike, so I try to catch it. I get up to him and he pulls away hard, so I twist the throttle and keep up with him. When I decided to look at my Speedo we were up to 150 mph. Now that's the fastest I've ever been. We slow down and he looks at me and nods. His bike is a cbr, not sure what cc though.
But I know this bike has more speed in her because I was only at 10,000 rpm. That was in 6th gear too. I love the fact that this bike can redline every gear, even od.

I believe true top speed is usually rated at around 154 or maybe it was 145. I may be dyslexic. The speedo is rather generous. Either way, it's fast enough for your day job.

I do believe its 154. And I know I was actually only going about 135, but it said 150. That's my story and I'm sticking to it, lol. At least that's what I'll brag to my friends.

Doing that on the highways is pretty stupid if you ask me. We all love speed but you should know the time and place where it is appropriate to open up full throttle and the highway is not the right place. You do realize that other vehicles on the highway will almost certainly call the police on you when you blow by them at triple digit speeds right? You do realize that if the other guy is a newbie to riding and wrecks his bike and dies they will almost certainly charge you with some vehicular homicide charge or similar. If you want to see how fast your bike will go find a desolate straight country road and have at it but please don't be doing that kinda shit on major roads. Behavior like that is what makes so many people hate bikes including police. Rant over.

Good thing I didn't ask you then. I forgot I need permission to do stupid shit. Anyways, the highway was pretty dead. Most the people already went to work so the cars were few between. I know I should find a strip but its been itching at me to open her up. Besides I don't think the cars had time to see my plate. There are a lot of sport bikes around here that use the highway as there playground. I just wanted some.

I mean geez, we have fast bikes. If I wanted to go slow I'd buy a Harley.

Yes, Havoc, you should definitely ride at high speed on a narrow country road, where animals/tractors can pull out in front of you without any warning. That's much safer than riding on a wide, smooth highway when there's little to no traffic around... :rolls

You're right. Those damn tractors blend in so well with the surrounding scenery and are barely noticeable from a distance. They just seem to pop out of nowhere and take motorcycles out all the time. I especially hate those inconsiderate farmers who paint their tractors camouflage colors.

I agree that the chance of hitting an animal is higher in the country but it's no greater than the chance of hitting a shredded up truck tire or other road debris that is common on the highways here. The main point is that if it happens in the country there is much less of a chance of injuring someone else who never asked to be part of your high speed adventure. I will admit that riding like this on the highway does have the main advantage that if you wreck it will take much less time to find your body as opposed to having to search for you on the side of the country road.

What colour is a John Deere, dickhead?

Also, and you apparently are ignorant of this, at sustained high speed a rider gets tunnel vision, so it would be very easy to not notice a large vehicle in a field on the side of a road.

Maybe I misread but I took it that the OP just opened it up to see what top speed was, not pinned it and rode for 5 minutes. I'm sure everyone on here has opened it up for a minute when they had a clear shot just to see what it would do. I have rarely ever sustained what I would consider a dangerous rate of speed. (all of you that have ridden with me shut up)

This could be even better than when Chicky confessed that she sent text messages while riding.
