These were different when I was a kid. Not VFR related but cool.

GK2G (Go-Kart-to Go) liteweight electric cart, my go-cart didn't look anything like this one.

I kinda remember my go cart made with a couple two by fours nailed together with some old rusted tricycle wheels put on with spikes or bent over nails holding on a re-bar axle. We powered them by pushing a hockey stick into a groove specifically engineered with split pine to recieve this stick. The really cool carts had a brake leaver that when pulled, forced a stick against the turning bakc wheel. Advanced Nail and rope steering on pivital pins or nails.

I made mine from an old angle iron bed frame and the engine off the lawn mower (2HP Briggs, I think). I neglected to ask permission, of course, because I knew what the answer would be.

I had a Sears Go Cart but it was a dog, but I found a Jacobsen 2 stroke in the woods, (powerfull well made engine unknown hp) a few mods later and running strait drive it was then fast enough to get hurt on.

A dozen of those carts, a couple of kegs of beer and all of us sounds like one hell of a good time.

Its a 99-01 (I don't really know what year) tony kart chassis, Yamaha kt-100 engine.

That new one looks cool, the only thing I don't like is that its electric. Not that I have anything against electric vehicles, but I doubt it can some close to the energy density of the kt-100 and a few liters of fuel.

I was race director and starter at Mid-Ohio Race Coarse for the Dart Cart Club from 88-95. I learned what karting was all about. Quite a few different classes from 5hp beginners to the open class. Which had water cooled Rotax 250cc engines. Scott Goodyear from Canada in his was clocked at 161 mph down the back straight.

Enduro and Speedway karts are a tad different from each other. mcoman's is a speedway and the carbon fiber one looks to be an Enduro. The difference between laying down and sitting up. The twin 125's are kind of wicked too.

    Karts are neat!
