    Thermostat
It was 65 deg outside this morning, perfect to test weather my bike runs to hot or not. Took me 15 miles at 70mph to come up to 170 deg ? I have been in the ayto repair busness 45 years.
This is how a properly opening thermostat works. Drive away cold and in a couple of miles the temp quickly comes to the thermostat opening setting. You can tell when it opens because when it opens the temp temporarly will dip down below the temp the thermostat opens at. My temp very slowly one degree at a time climbed to 170 at 70 mph. it never diped down for a few seconds. No thermostat takes 15 miles to open unless their is a small by pas built into the thermostat or a small by pas hose in the system.
After stoping i let the bike idle till it reached 222 deg then the fan came on and shut off at 206.
If a expert has tride this with the sam results i will say i have no problem.
On the way back home the engine was around 185 at 70 mph with a outside temp of around 70 deg.
    thanke for any imput.

If it does have a bypass that would make it take longer to come to full temp

It sounds like your cooling system is working as designed for the sixth gen.

Fan on @223 then around 187-200 in town temps.

Should be off high idle after a minute or so probably less in 50degree +. The fast idle wax unit runs off a diverted line

On my 5th gen the engine is at normal operating temperature within 3 km of riding. You can also test your thermostat by hand, start from cold and keep a hand on the radiator. If it stays cold for a few minutes suddenly gets too hot to touch, that is perfect operation. If it slowly and steadily heats, the thermostat is stuck open.
