Hello all. I'm glad to say that I am finally an owner of a 97 VFR in Real Red and love the groups out here.

It all started at age 7 with a Honda MR50. I put countless tanks of gas in it until my knees were above the tank and the tires squatted. My then dad got me a Yamaha DT100E which I drove until I was old enough for a moped. Yeah, I'm not too proud to admit that I drove one for two years. I then got my motorcycle permit at 16 and we went shopping for a bike. As luck would have it, they had a VF500 (I think an 86) and I wanted soooo bad. But as luck would have it I ended up with a blue Yamaha 400 Special II. I road this for two years and sold it as I was off to college. I worked a motorcycle dealership for a while and almost got to ride an 87 VFR750 but they couldn't find the keys. Foiled once again. One of my coworkers let me borrow his VMax which was a whole different bag of potatoes. Once I graduated and got married my wife and I bought a Yamaha FZR600. We rode this with sore butts for two years and then it went bye-bye to pay for siding on the house when the baby was coming. Finally 7 years later things worked out so I could get a bike again and low and behold I knew what I wanted. After some searching I found a Pearl White 93 in Columbus OH for $3695. I figured it would take another $500 for the 10 hour drive to get it back with gas, hotel, food, etc. Then some local searching found a 97 Red VFR. The dealership wanted $4800, but it was on sale for $4600. I offered $4000 and they came back with $4100. I signed the papers since it was about a wash in price to get the white one. It's got 14K miles on it and one boo-boo on the left fairing where something fell against it. I don't know if it's been rejetted or not, but it's got a TBR pipe and I love the sound of it!! This bike does everything I need and feels great doing it. Anyone that knows bikes knows what it is. I LOVE IT!! Now if I can just find some riders in Iowa!!!!!!!

    Ride

    Lance and Kit,
Hey, I live down here in Norwalk (just south of the DSM airport 7 mi.). A friend of mine and I are heading up to Dennis Kirks showroom for a ride. It's about 5 hours. I'm heading to Orlando for a week, but when we get ready to go, I'll give you a shout and if you are available, lets go for a ride.
