    About time this bike had a 6-speed transmission. Always liked them and almost bought one, but decided not to after I took one for a spin and missed the 6th gear.

    Talked to a WW2 vet a few years ago that had just come back from a month long tour of the lower 48 on a FJ. He had 130k miles on it. Said it still ran like day 1.

    lol, he was a very interesting guy. I find a lot of WW2 vets are really cool to talk to. I spent about 1/2 hour at the gas station talking with him. Some of his riding in the PNW I knew very well and we had a good time. I video taped a bunch of Medal of Honor recipients about 9 years ago for the society with a large emphasis on the WW2 guys as they are passing away quickly. Some of the stories they told were heartbreaking. I would usually roll a good 1/2 hour of tape before the interviewer got down to the real tale and usually there was not a dry eye among the entire crew. Enormous self sacrifice. The real deal guys don't talk about it much. Those interviews are at the Smithsonian war museum.

    Back to the FJ, I don't see the HP and torque numbers yet but I'm guessing it will still be in the 160 hp range and with a wider gearing with the 6th gear it should move along quickly. Perhaps sub 11 in the 1/4 stock. It has all the electronics you want, slipper clutch, adjustable throttle control, cruise control and heated grips. The electronically controlled suspension is very useful especially if you switch between solo and 2 up. ABS is standard too. Not bad at all. I just wish it was as light as a VFR and I might add another bike.

    When I was working the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, I was talking to a couple of guys in the Iron Butt club. They were looking at the 2015 FJR and they said their buddy has one, a 2007 with over 200K miles on it. That's impressive! I guess the guy rides all over the US, Canada and Mexico.

    This year, I've put on more than 30,000 km's (18,600 miles) on my VFRs (crashed and new) ... had it not been for my accident and going on a family vacation in the fall, I likely would have had even more ... if I lived in a warm climate, I'd be riding year 'round. :)

    I myself was hoping for a bigger engine and less pork. Will stick with mine until that one turns up.

    Used to be into "pulled-pork and bbq" before I moved down here (South FL.) Don't confuse "pulled pork" for HD or the stuff that soW that sum-beetch feeds his/her cats. We got fed shepards pie today at work. Yum, wut the hell am I talking about? :loco: It's all true btw.

    I used to like the old FJ1100 and 1200, the new stuff does nothing for me, and besides I won't get a price break on any Yamaha, I will stick with my YSR50 though. I know they use the new FJs for constabulatory work over seas. :peace:

    I had a 2007 cant say anything bad about it ( never thought i needed the 6th gear). SOLD it ,as i couldn't find my groove with it. the vfr feels like a 600 for me!! (i also have a land barge electra glide for long rides that keeps it feeling that ay now.)

    As long as he didn't mean "porked as a fan of pegging". That would be a SOW type of hobby.

    The coppers here are moving from ST1300 to the FJ's and are very happy about the move.

    Back in the day I wanted a FJ1100 bad for a long haul bike. I just couldn't give up the Interceptor to do it though. The FJ was a big heavy bike compared to the VF. I enjoyed handling to much to get one. They still are when compared to the bird, which is no light weight itself.

    I loved those red/white FJ1200s, I remember walking around Europe and seeing one of them in front of a store and it making a lasting impression. Just a kewel looking bike with a big in-line four in view. I think I rode one long ago. They did blow second gear btw; here the constabulatory hated the St1300s, they deliberately smoked the clutches and generally just destroyed them. HD rules the land in that department, don't include any talk about pulled pork or donuts in this sentence. :loco:

    I think the engine is fine with the HP and torque it puts out in a very smooth manner. Its the extra 100lbs that I don't like. All the stock electronics and other goodies like heated grips that come on it are very nice.
