So, I finally started receiving the parts I ordered about 2 weeks ago... still waiting on an upper cowl, left side fairing, and tail section... But, my tank pad and my new windscreen showed up! Here ya go:

    Tank Pad:

    Windscreen as it arrived:

    Windscreen after personal touch:

(Keep in mind, the light in the house goes through the plastic a tad differently, it's actually a pretty sexy shade of yellow in the natural outside light)

Let me know what ya guys think, and rest assured because THIS will be the thread where I post pics of parts as they arrive, as well as after install, paint, etc... The Hornet will rise again! =P

It'll be interesting to see what you come up with... Is it all gonna be together by May?

@Reg: HELL YEAH IT'LL BE READY BY MAY! I gotta be at SLO dontcha know =P Hopefully all my parts will show in the next 2 weeks, and I'll have it all together and painted by the end of March... I'll keep y'all posted using this thread, hopefully you'll find the finished project as sexy as I'm hopin' it will be

Update: VFRChuck is fabricating my tail section this week, should have it in my hands by friday the 19th.... airtech streamling should have my nose and left side to me around the same time... so that gives me the whole last week of march to prep and paint my baby ^_^

Pix to follow just as soon as I receive somethin' in the mail...

    Another Piece!

So, I came across a guy with a Yoshimura pipe on Craigslist... guy said it was off an r6, some buddy of his' race bike that had been down... I go to check it out, it has some minor damage but I think I can fix it... Anyway, turns out to be a Yoshi RS-3 Stainless (which, havin' seen one on my buddy's bike, I know has a nice sound)... oh, btw, I only paid $50 for it! Here's the pix after I rinsed off the dust...

As you can see, the badge has a dent on the right end... but I think I may be able to use my dent puller to straighten it out... We'll see... In any case, the bike's cosmetic surgery will now include a change in voice ^_^

try using dry ice to pull the dent out.. start on the edges by rubbing it on the metal it may pop it out and it may not... This works on car skins. So the metal of the exhaust may be a little to thick..

    Just a thought..

    Got my Airtech Stuff

WOO! Got the plastics from FedEx today, delivery guy woke me up honkin' his horn... Pieces from Airtech are super light, but seem durable... only downside is, none of the hardware came with it, so I gotta figure out how to attach them to one another and also the bike... but never fear, I have a manic mechanic for a brother ;) in any case, here's pix of em as they arrived, more to follow once I've painted etc...

    Update and Question...

started drillin' holes and getting fitments right today... still waitin' on VFRChuck to mail me my tail section, last email said it'd go out sometime this week (dude is seriously on my nerves, but if his work is good it'll be worth it)... in any case, here's the pic I snapped of my bro and I fitting the Gustafsson windscreen onto the Airtech upper... needed a little fine shaving, but it looks decent and I think paint will bring it all together

Still tryin' to decide if I should put the stock headlight back, with a yellow bulb (process would involve cutting the mounting points off the old fairing and using epoxy to fix them to new fairing)... other option is, get some generic lights from Autozone and fab up a bracket, give the bike a whole different set of eyes... only issue there is, makes it harder to identify as a Gen2 VFR, and idk if other lights would be bright enough to see the everlovin' freeway at night...

So, question for the day is, what's your opinion on headlights? any suggestions if I decide to go alternative and use some random stuff?

    Tail Section Has Arrived!!!

FINALLY, Chuck and USPS have come through and delivered my tail section... I must say it was well worth the wait; I was very impressed with Cobalt Racing's packaging, and the craftsmanship is quite sturdy... Pix to follow when I'm not at work ;)

Looks nice, I'm waiting for the full package from Chuck.

So Airtech makes theirs out of ABS plastic?
