The 57th 5th Gen Ever Made?

    I've just checked the VIN of the 5th gen that I bought about 18 months ago and according to Honda VIN guide my bike is number 57 of all the RC46 engined bikes ever made. I imagine that the VFR800s were only only ever made in the Japan factory, hence there wouldn't be a parallel series of similar VINs from another factory out there. Not sure if I should be excited or not, but I'm not selling in any case! Anyone able to shed more light on this topic?     Yep, they started making the 98 year model in 97. Bike was made in Nov 97 but has the VIN reflecting the 98 model year. Not much mistaking that shape for a 4th gen...

    That makes more sense, you are an early built '98 model. My Dodge Challenger has an '09 build date but is a '10......

    Mine was built 11/97 but it's #282. what would interesting is to know was there 2 maybe 3 versions made for other country's, could be mines the 282nd US model.
