While getting further acquainted with the VFR, I noticed that my reserve light does NOT light up when I'm low on fuel. The light does come on when IGN is turned on (function check) and goes out accordingly. Other forums/threads state that the reserve circuit is it's own little filament inside of a little "can" that is very susceptible to breaking. I did check the wire coming out of the "can" with a ground, and it does illuminate the reserve light. So, mine's FUBAR.

Has anyone devised their own little reserve sending unit to make this work? Or, is everyone doing what I'm doing, and just tanking up at around 175 miles?

    Really?

I've been checking my mileage, and using a fuel additive (mineral oil type) to test my mileage difference.

When I first got the bike, I got 37.5 mpg on the 1st tank. (probably because I was real easy on the throttle.) After that I've been getting anywhere from 33 to 36 mpg. After a couple of tanks (with the additive) the mileage went to 39.8 mpg and this last fill-up, 42.3 mpg! (186 miles on 4.4 gallons = 42.3 mpg) Granted, that last tank was mostly highway miles. But, the one before that was mostly city riding. (at 39.8mpg)

And, judging by the soot on my pipe, I think my bike runs rich. You must have a strong, heavy hand! :strong:

Or, you need a mixture adjustment, BAD.

What kind of mileage are you getting, Rev?
