That's exactly what a CBR954RR Fireblade rider said after ear plugs out he had followed closely behind me over a 44km's section of tightly twisting Alpine mountain range this weekend.

It's no surpprise to VFR owners of course but gob smacking startling to it hear it from a rider with over 25 years of experience a lot of track time behind him with a current stable of CR250, 3 * RG500s ( yes 3 ), an RGV250, a mint '89 Race version single seat GSXR750RR, a GSXR750 and the Yellow/Black CBR954RR as his Touring bike.

After the last my last attempt of my favourite 1200mile 3 day ride which was shut down early on day 2 due to being caught in a Snow Storm this time the weather was absolute perfection. Not cold, not hot, no wind just sweet endless miles of clean carless, smokieless tightly twisting mountain roads to thoroughly enjoy.

Find myself still dreaming nights of one particular long section on the 3rd morning leaving with bright skies a slight wisp of clearing morning fog where I imagined I was riding the skies with Eagles winding up and down a near barren twisting ridgeline continually ranging in altitude between 4900ft to 5500ft on my Zumo...

The only slight worry on the road trip home was a snake in the middle of the road after a abortive attempt at striking the lead rider reared its head back to have a go at me, thankfully I had the security of bike boots and leather pants so didn't freak riding rather fast past its rather p*ssed off raised to strike head.

You know how sometimes the VFR in the right rev range sometimes sounds like a nicely warmed over small block, this thing was the real deal and sounded amazing pulling into the Hotel we were staying in, a small block 350 Chev engined Cruiser.

Travelling a new land is always a great expirience, when I win the Lottery I'd travel the US by bike, was privileged to get in quite a few hundreds of miles of back roads driving around north Georgia into Alabama, Tennesse and Nth Carolina in about 2003.

We run into a group of about 14 Britts travelling Oz, most of them on BMs but one on a TDM. We learnt by chatting they'd shipped the bikes over in containers and were spending 2 months travelling the country, they were well enjoying themselves and liked a beer or 3 at the end of a days ride.

Are you running an Arrow can? I can't quite tell from your photo gallery.

What exact part of Australia was this ride in? I've been to Oz many times & would like to look the route up since a riding vacation in your neck of the woods would simply be freaking awesome.

I've actually had HD guys complement my bike with the Staintune on it. One guy even asked if I was running a super-charger. I guess from a few feet away, the gear driven cams could give that impression.

You're correct on the end Can, its a "Race Only" Carbon ARROW but compared to some other end cans like D&D etc it's not loud but good enough to get the CBR954RR rider excited enough to seriously consider adding a good condition Gen 4 or 5 to his already ample stable..Agree the very long life Staintunes are the best but when at the bike Shop they were having a sale on the display ARROWs and got mine at half price. Have been happy with the ARROWs quality finish and sound but like all Carbon Cans think the Staintunes sound the better at mid to high Revs.

    Hopefully a clearer Picture:

Some of the best riding roads can be had down in a our Southern N.S.W / Northen Victoria Snowy Mountains Region, would be happy to provide all details on roads etc on your next visit, weather and bike wise around this time of year seems consistently the best time to visit them.

There are plenty of riding goodness to be had down there all the way to the coastline which we do on the ride day 1, below is our Day2 Loop which pretty much throws everything you could wish for, smooth high speed long sweeper roads, flowing tight on camber uphill mountain passes, very tight twisting iffy surfaced narrow gorges, blasting country back road through valleys then capped off with tightly winding well surfaced Alpine passes with plenty of VFR sound enhancing open tunnel like cuttings...JOY...

Below is our usual Day 2 then below that is my current favourite Section from past Khancobin towards Kiandra, as reference have also added further below the Google map Links as tiny URLS.

    Short Vid

The CBR954RR Guy just sent me a short clip leaving Dead Horse Gap which incidentally where he had just been following me through tight Alpine twisties the previous 44km and told me " That Fecken thing sounds f*cken Awesome ".

It's not much I'm afraid but must admit up until the time he fires up his RR my VFR does sound pretty good pulling away.
