My first post as I have begun by reading all of the great history on the VFR posted here. It's been incredibly helpful. I should say that I don't even have a bike yet as I have a car to sell first. Once that's done I'm thinking that best bang for the buck will be a low mileage 5th generation, 98-01 I believe that is. How a bike sounds is an important part of for me, and consensus seems to be that the gear-driven cams give the best sound, and are maybe the most durable as well.
One thing I was wondering is has anyone ran a dual exhaust system on a 5th generation bike? It's kind of a minor thing, but I like the balanced look of exhausts hanging off each side of the bike. Just wondered if it's possible to do without messing up the bike in some way.
Again, thanks to those who make this site possible.
    Best,

Hi Denis and welcome to our group. I have the 3rd gen vfr myself and love it. I have to agree that the gear driven cams make it sound unniques as well as the growl of the V-4. When you are ready to buy one I wish you luck in your search.

I dunno if anyone has done that, but I would bet they have. Welcome to the group. Hey Vinnie, in that pic that someone cross-posted from VFRD, was the bike with the stubby underframe exhaust a 5th gen? Denis, if you search for 'polarise' I bet you will se the thread I'm talking about.

    Reg,

Skid already answered, but yeah it's a 5th gen. The new poics he poster are also 5th gen. I like the looks of both, but I like the underframe one better. Just my opinion tho. lol

yeah, that's pretty trick. I wonder if it's too loud, though. You are walking a fine line out here if it gets excessive. You can't ride without being harassed, and it also lets them know where to lie in wait for you...
