Texas wine country tour

I found a great website www.texaswinetrail.com that shows the wineries around the Austin area. I am planning a trip with my better half over memorial day weekend and wanted some input from any Austin area riders as to what backroads I should target. Any input from somebody who had a particularly good vineyard tour would also be welcomed. I see a cluster of vineyards on 290 but that road doesn't look terribly scenic or exciting. Am I wrong? Ultimately I'd like to bomb the backroads, hit a few scenic areas and stop at some vineyards. Any input would be appreciated!
