Last weekend was gorgeous. Sunday it hit 74 degrees. I rode my VFR about 400 miles over the weekend and it felt GREAT!

This weekend: A bit different. Right now it's 24 degrees heading for a high of 30 today, and a couple of inches of white crap everywhere:

Does this count as riding in the snow? 'Cause it's about as close as I'm prepared to get!

OK, so it isn't my VFR. Since it was snowing I decided to ride my dual-sport V-Strom instead of my VFR. And, yes, that is as far as it went! About one foot was enough for me.

I know, compared to most parts of the country this is just a "Dusting" of snow. But for Tennessee, especially in March, it is very unusual. The last snow of any consequence that we had was in January, 2003 (photos Here).

This part of the country just does not get much snow and this much (about 2") is really enough to stop things in their tracks. The released many of the schools yesterday morning before it even started to snow. They started salting the roads as soon as the word "Snow" hit the forecasts. I'd be willing to bet that many stores that are open today are only partially staffed because of the "I can't get there because of the snow" sob stories.

The snow that hit in January, 2003 pretty much stopped this part of the state in its tracks. It started early on a Thursday morning and the photos I took were about mid morning. My office closed at 2:00 and I had to pick up my wife downtown. My office was about 3 miles from her office and it took me over 2 hours to get there. No problems on my part, I was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but others just gave up. They would get out of their cars in the middle of the road and walk away from them. It was a solid mass of weaving through parked and abandoned vehicles, as well as all the others that got stuck trying to get around them.

Oh well, spring is coming, I think

 This is a bunch'a CRAP!... How the hell can we ride 200 miles last Sunday with no winter liners and then wake up to this...

You know what they say: "If you don't like the weather in Tennessee, just wait a minute."

I guess this snow is just Karma for all the fun we had last weekend:biggrin:

Beats the hell out of me. I guess you're right and it's just payback for last weekend. Either that or it's winter's last hurrah and things are going to warm up afterwards. It's already melting here and the roads are bone dry. Supposed to get up to around 50 tomorrow so maybe I can get out and ride a little bit.
