Dear members of the forum , I need some consultancy on this issue:
My newly acquired VF500F temperature jauge , when used in town trafic tends to remain on the right side , towards the red zone ( but not inside ) the fan starts to work at about three quarters of the needle course.
Is this normal according to your experience ?
What would you suggest I do to reduce the heat if needed?

    Thank you for your answers

    Faithfully yours

Yes, that is about normal. The engine is known to run hot. Not much you can do about it. There are some coolants that claim to reduce engine temps but I have yet to see real compelling evidence they do anything other than empty your pockets. You can add a manual override switch at the radiator fan switch. (On the left side of the radiator towards the bottom). This means you can run the fan all the time when in traffic for example.

Many thanks dear Jeremy for your swift answer :) instead of the manual override who has tried the modification of the temperature switch to the one of the VF500C which is supposed to switch on 10 degrees ( celcius ) lower , can on confirm it works and the reference of this switch as well as the source of availability ? many thanks in advance ... Olivier

I have bought one of the cheap Chinese fan switches. It is supposed to come on at 65degC. We will see...

Thanks for posting/asking. I've been looking at my temp lately as summer hits. Was a little worried until reading peoples response. :Bounce:
