You need to be much more specific as to what you're looking for. I personally HATE tank bags so if I ever deal with one, I want it to be as small as possible. If you give some criteria as to size & what it will be used for, some of the guys that like tank bags might be able to help you.

The ONLY two I've ever used or will ever use:

    Givi Tank Pocket

    &

    Joe Rocket Manta

I very much prefer my Cortech Sport Tail Bag over any tank bag any day of the week.

I have a small tank bag by cortech

    http://www.newenoughhp.com/luggage/...master/mini_magnetic_motorcycle_tank_bag.html

It's just big enough to take some gym clothes to work or lunch and a jacket liner on day trips. I had a friend at a tint shop custom fit some of the clear protective film to the top of the tank. I was super careful putting the bag on and about wiping the tank off with a micofiber towel if there was a hint of dust and I was still getting some fine scratches on the tank. I'm sure thats why people a lot of people don't like them. So far the film is doing it's job and after a couple of months in the desert sun no problems.

You want no scratch, easy to use, lockable, good looking. Try this website: www.luggagelocker.com . I have two VFR's, a 1992 & 1993, I do not want any scratch on these 15/14 year old babies....No scratch, it does not even touch my tank. Try it out and let me know.

I like tank bags as long as you do not need a lot of storage. They are quick on and off the bike. My first was an OSI strap mount worked good and did not scratch the bike. I now have a Cortec super mini (magnetic) which is great for storing small stuff like Mp3, CD or communicator. I recently purchased an OSI ST tank bag (magnetic, osi-sports.com). I will never go back to straps. They tend to move while traveling and the magnetics stay put. Size depends on what you want mine is 24L and does not get in the way during normal comutes, bigger might. As for scratches, it depends on you environment I live in Ohio, no beaches or deserts and no scratches. I also keep my bike clean and store my bags on the side of a metal shelf, dust and dirt do not collect on vertical surfaces. I also like the Cortec 21L.

Over the years I had quite a few tank bags...the one that I've stuck with is Bagster. The mount for the tank bag is a bike specific tank cover (in some cases color matched).

I recently got a cover for my VFR, and if I'm gonna ride my SR500, the bag clips onto it's cover. The bag in the pic is the Alpha. There are larger and smaller bags available. Check out: www.bagster.com

I've had the cover and bag on the SR500 for over 10 years and the durability is great.

Having used about 3-4 brands, and looked at anything else I could find. I find Marsee makes the best darn soft luggage out there, well designed and built to last, lots of thoughtful touches. Several other very good ones out there too. Never had a problem with scratches from a tankbag. If you are worried about it, get a protective sheet, or I am just in the habit of giving the bottom a quick brush with the back of my hand before sticking it on. If there is something there, I would feel it. Also, I close the magnetic "wings" when the bag is off the bike, so that the areas that contact the tank, are not exposed directly to the outside.
