Two feet of ice and snow means no birthday ride to the show for my 10 year old daughter.

Hey I got a question for you I'm in Ottawa Ontario so the snow and cold gets pretty crazy here! The question I have is this, do you store your VFR in that type of portable shed during the entire winter? If so how cold does it get out your way and does your bike survive ok being stored like that. Any recommendations would help, as of right now I have my bike stored at my brothers place so it's hard to do work on it during the winter months! Also it's great that your daughter loves the bike.

The cold here is nothing like Ottawa. Of course, so many there deserve it! :)

My plan is to ride whenever there's no snow, which should be about 11 months of the year. Having said that, it's been below 0 for a month now, and it'll be about another month before my driveway (500 yards) melts enough for the bike.

The shed (that's what we call it) keeps the snow and rain off the bike, but it's bloody cold, far too cold for working on the bike (I have HID lights nagging me in my office). If I had a heated garage, I'd jump at it. In short: it's better than nothing.

It is great that she loves it, and being the smallest member of the family, she's also the best passenger!

I just have to smile at the thought of the "cold" on Bowen island.... My bikes sat outside at -30--40 for most of their lives under a tarp and only ever had one problem with that...don't EVER sit on the seat at -30! It disintegrates instantly..:) No kidding..I have also snapped off a few front fenders just bumping into them at those temps. Then again, now that i left the frozen land of the socialists and now live in BC, I can ride sometimes in the winter like Digitally hip also! Quite a new experience! :) As for Digit..shovel that snow! I suspect your roads will be quite clear soon! enjoy!
