    Hello everybody,

I am new to the site, this is my first post! Last week I traded by TDM 900 for a 2005 VFR (second hand) and I am thrilled with the bike. I have two questions though:

I had the impression that when you turn the key to the ignition position and the bike goes through the self-diagnosis process, the needle of the tachometer rotates through the rpm scale and comes back. Mine does not do this. It just does not move at all. I asked the dealer about this and he said that most probably the settings on the control panel have been changed and all I have to do is change mode. Is this the case or is it simply not working? Also, if this is the case, can anybody tell me how to change modes (the dealer hasn't given me the manual yet)?

Another peculiarity is the fuel tank gauge. I refill it when the last fuel bar starts flashing, but it takes only 17 liters out of the 22 litres capacity. Does this mean that I still have anothe 5 liters and therefore should ignore the flashing bar? (when the last bar starts flashing I have about 230 kilometers from tha last refill).

I will appreciate any input on the above. Nice to be on the board.

    Yiannis

Welcome yiannis. The tach needle doesn't move on the vfr like on some other bikes, and the fuel guage can be rather pessimistic when it comes down to actual fuel left in the tank. When mine starts flashing I usually have close to a gallon left. I like to go by the mileage when it gets that low. I usually get @ 210-230 miles per tank full. Hope this helps.
