I have a 1986 rwb 700 vfr, I would like to know how to get the stains off the aluminum swing arm? I bought another from ebay, asked the guy too send more pic's from the side veiw so I would not end up with the same. He said just a little steel wool and would be golden. That is what I thought when I bought the bike also. Well here I am sitting with 2 swing arms that are stained, I'm thinking battery acid. What do you guy's use? I can tell it has been a problem with these bikes also, that have sat awhile. Does a guy have to get it polished?

    Yup!

I do not even need a picture, it is battery acid. Repair is hopeless beyond polish or replace.May have a spare that is a peach.

whatever the liquid culprit was, it has probably penetrated into the pores of the aluminum casting or extrusion, the only thing i can suggest is find somebody to media blast one of them and see if that removes the staining. my guess is that it won't completely remove the stain, but you never know and it's worth a try.

Luma-brite! I use it to restore the original luster of jetski motors at the end of my rental season. be carefull though if you get this stuff on plastic, it wil perminently turn it white.
