swapping rear ends on 01 vfr?

is there any other bike that you can swap out the rear fairing and tail light? i remember seein a 01 vfr with a split seat and different taillights. is it just the matter of changing out the rear sub frame, fairing, lights, seat? has anyone else heard of this?

 

Just about anything is possible. Tho' I understand the 5th and 6th gen bikes have different attachment points for the main frame/sub-frame interface.

If a 5th gen subframe would be of use on your project, I have a spare in the store room. It would be useful to bring it to a salvage yard and see what other bodywork/seat/light combo might fit over the 5th gen subframe.

Tail swaps are a common topic. Few tails bolt right up. If you have some knowledge and tools and the skills to use them, almost anything can be done. It all depends on your resources.

 

i guess my question then is.... has anyone done it? what bike did they use for the tail piece?

 

I saw one the other day that had a cbr tail...

I saw it in person...did a double take, waved at the guy, didn't wave back. He ended up turning around, and chased me down. We shot the shit for a minute, then he took off. His bike was beat to hell though...looked pretty rough all around, but the tail section looked pretty cool.
