Going to set up my suspension one of these days when i stop being lazy. I'm going to do sag and whatnot so i know i have to do that 1st. Thats beside the point.

I remember seeing an article that takes tire wear (front compared to back) and suggested suspension adjustments accordingly. Basically my "chicken strip" ratio is larger in the front than in the rear. I'll post pictures at some point.

and for the "blah blah blah use the search blah blah blah" people, i didnt find it easily and my network is super slow. Besides what would you have to talk about it you didnt rehash every now and then. sheesh...

    Hey DenT:

I'm not a suspension guru, but what little I know I haven't herd of suspension affecting contact patches per se. That is more directly affected by tire brands used by the rider.

More when tires are used to adjust suspension its a shock/ fork rebound issue at the track. I don't think street speeds can achieve what you are after for those kinds of tire readings.

Google : Dave Moss/ Catalyst Reaction

Mr Moss has the tire pics showing what's what in reading tires.

For the sake of discussion, what tires (brand and size) are you using?

What are your concerns with this? Maybe we would be better focusing on that issue that suspension at the moment.

basically was just looking to get the most out of my tires. I'm not saying that my skillset exceeds the tires by any means, I just figured that the wear pattern indicated that the tread was not being fully utilized.

OK, well post up some pics of your tires and lets discuss this some more.

I have a theory that what you may be struggling with is more a 'mental' thing than getting the most out of your tires. I say this because its a struggle I have myself.

I know that even spirited street riding doesn't push most of todays really good tires to their traction limits. The Michelins you run are one of those tires. But having the "faith" in what your tires can accomplish is something entirly different.

This thread may get interesting brother.

Except for racing bikes, i've ALWAYS noticed larger chickenstrips on front tyres (vs. rear) on all bikes, so that must be normal.
