There may be a wrench thrown in. I think I just wrote off my truck a couple hours ago. Quite the wallop. Starting to stiffen up a bit now. But I should still be able to make it. Now I just have to find the money to replace the truck. I have insurance but that gets me someone else's piece of shit and I won't be able to find the same truck in as good shape and as well looked after as mine was so they only this is new. And a comparable truck is $85K.

Dear Lord ... I hope you're OK, Randy.

Any chance you can do a buy back on your truck and have it repaired?

I won't comment too much on a public forum but it was a three vehicle freeway collision. No one was really hurt but I am sure there will be stiffening up. I am already stiffening up in the upper back and neck. We will see how it goes tomorrow morning but if I can, I will be on the bicycle for sure tomorrow to work this through. Thank god for seatbelts though. I am surprised my air bags did not deploy becasue it was a substantial impact.

Too early to say. But given the thought that a replacement new vehicle will be costly, and I doubt I will get a hell of a lot for my 15 year old truck, that might be something to consider. I have Public Liability insurance as well as private. $1300.00 worth of brand new tires with less than 300 miles on them, newer wheels. Too much to consider right now. But a real wrench has been thrown into our pans to go out in the fifth wheel for a while.

Feeling fine this morning. A little stiff but no worse than I was last night and it is not restricting in any way really. Jeff. I gave your suggestion some thought and decided the repairs that need to be done is far beyond my desire to tackle. It would take me far too long and I will need the truck up and running. Either they fix it which should be able to be done in reasonable time, or I have looked at new trucks and GM Canada has 0% financing available for 72 months for the truck I want, so I am prepared to go with that if that is what it comes to. If so, I should be able to have a new truck in the driveway withing a week or so. But I am hoping they will repair my existing truck.

Sorry for the thread jack. All over with now.

Glad to hear you're feeling well this morning.

Regarding the repairs as a buy-back ... I'm not sure how it works in BC, but here in MB you can buy-back and have the repairs done by a shop - MPI will pay you for the full value of the vehicle, and you buy it back at a lesser amount. They give you the difference which you can put towards the repairs as you see fit.

I have private comprehensive insurance. I went through something similar when I dropped the bike off the truck while loading it several years ago. The process was so aggravating I told them fine, I will just take it to the shop and you can pay the full costs to repair. I had lined up inexpensive OEM parts and I was going to do the work but the rep from the insurance company was screwing around so I gave up and they did not save any money. Had enough of that. Just going to leave it to ne repaired by a reputable body shop and let the insurance cover it, or write it off and get a brand new truck. I was planning on treating myself to a new one when I reached official old age in two years time

Back to the thread. Anyone else from VFRW going to this event. The motel where it is taking place is fully booked but there are two more motels next door and across the street where some of us are already staying. I am booked at the Chief myself.

Regrettably, I have to cancel my participation in this ride this time around. The replacement for my truck is going to be more costly than I was hoping and to spend this kind of cash right now would be irresponsible on my part. Maybe next Sum Sum .

That is too bad Randy, I was looking forward to the ride out there with you. Good luck with the truck.

I am sure you and I will ride together again another time. Thanks for the sentiment.
