Riding home last night at around 11:20 westbound on hwy118, traveling around 75 in the diamond lane...for some reason I was to the left side of the lane which I always try to stay out of because all the trash up against the k rail.....had a car just a tad behind me in the fast lane to my right......all of a sudden after just checking my right mirror, these two guys on sportbikes passed me to my right of my lane and the car doing atleast 120 or faster...all I saw was one bike right behind the other and really only heard them as they passed, I swear it sounded like the WSB's going down the straights at Laguna. Shook me to my core, had I moved over for a retread or any of the crap thats on all the LA freeways I would of be toast.
Didn't ride today and just dumbfounded on these brain dead morons out there just ruining our image .
Thought fer sure I would come up to a wreck or atleast a chase from the local popo...but nothing.
Thought I would share, oh and latley noticed motorcycles tailgating me while splitting lanes, been doing it since 84 so I know the right way to do it.
    Okay I'm done...
    Goodnight

Stupidity is the universal constant. Not gravity or the speed of light.

Another example that loud pipes don't save lives.
I know there wasn't an accident here, but ".all I saw was one bike right behind the other and really only heard them as they passed" proves that even loud pipes can't be heard when we are in front.

I'm glad you're ok. I have had a similar experience and it is startling. Folks confuse streets for racetracks.

I rarely ride on the weekend or heaven forbid at night on the weekend. Just use em as tools to get to work. I had a doode on a "busa" pass me kinda close, shorts on and a helmet. Musta been jealous of my stich suit or maybe he had "small-mans" disease. F em All! :flip:

We take our lives in our hands regardless of four or two wheels, its never easy getting to or from work. At least I have something to look forward to; don't let the bastards get yah down! Assume your invisible and everyone is gona kill yah, but you knew that

Yep, I see it all the time. Down here in Floida, often in shorts and t-shirts, as well.

Years ago several friends I ride track with stopped by a " Sunday morning ride" which consisted of a bunch of squid kids on high power bikes. They seems to get into a testosterone frenzy and want to scare granny on I95. We were on some well sorted sport bikes but wearing leathers. After all the bravado was over with the squids proclaiming how good they were we got 2 guys to commit to a track day. After that they no longer rode with the ass hats.

maybe I'm becoming a two wheeled snob, but I find myself not returning the "wave" to folks wearing t's and sneakers.

They're everywhere. A couple weeks age my buddy & I were returning home from a day long ride & came upon a bike wreck. Female rider in her mid twenties (guesstimate) on an R1 lost it trying to hang the front end. I have not idea what her skill level was, I guessing she weighed about 125lbs. A lot of bike for any rider. Anyway she was wearing a helmet, tank top, jeans, sneakers & no gloves. Her clothes were reduced to bloody rags. Her hands were mangled pretty good, tried to catch herself when she was ejected. Shattered both ankles, possible fractured ribs & pelvis. Road rash head to toe. Her tattoos will need a some touch up when she heals in about a year. Eyewitnesses put her speed at around 65 mph. State & local PD estimated it to be a little higher. The bike wasn't heavily damaged but did slide a considerable distance.

    Completely pointless & preventable accident.

Very sad to hear...probably stole her boyfriends keys
Anybody with a brain spending that kind of green on a high horsepower bike or any bike would always wear ATGATT.

I hold no quarter for people who ride without gear, for simple reasons, not only because of crash protection. I've lost track of all the times small rocks have been kicked up by cars and hit my arms. Each one of them hurt and they hit my leather jacket sleeve. I can only guess what it would feel like if I didn't have over a millimeter of leather between my arm and the rock. I've also had rocks chip my helmet. What would that have felt like, or the bugs that went whack and splat on the visor, right in front of my eye?

notice a large majority of 'busa riders round here wear those black german military style helmets. wonder if they wrecked the hardley and now there's some sort of identity crisis.
