Hey all, I am trying to find out what could be the issue on my fourth gen. A few weeks ago while riding with Rollin_Again we encountered an electrical issue with my bike after running through suches. When I pulled up to the gas station the bike died. Tried to bump start it but it wouldn't stay cranked. We thought of three things, the RR, stator and battery. We assumed the battery may be good because the high beams would turn on. But there were no bike shops around so Rollin went to Ducktown to get another battery from wal mart and a trickle charger. When he got back we put the new battery in, bump started it and everything seemed to be running fine. We stopped at Zaxbys for lunch and then headed off to MCaysville where it proceeded to die again. Tried to bump start it and no dice. So we tow it back down to Rollin's garage, and put the voltmeter on the battery and we got a draining reading. We decided to charge up the new battery and try one of Rollins extra RR's he had from his totaled *cough stolen* 3rd gen. The bike then began to run quite well, keeping the battery consistent and well within range, and I decided to ride it back home from Alpharetta to Atlanta, with no problems. Fast forward to yesterday, I was heading out on the bike to eat some grub, and she died again about a mile away from home. This time, no lights, no bump start. I ended up pushing it home... As of right now I am thinking maybe the 93 RR oem unit may have only had one more run in it or the stator. Any input would be excellent, I'm sure Sy (Rollin_Again) will chime in sometime today with some other facts I may have missed. Thanks! Vince ('97VFR750)
hmmmm..... check you staor output (all three legs ) make sure ther are putting out the proper amount....check the RR again...and check your connections..... your problem lies right in those four places.....(stator, RR , Battery, connections)....
