I was in the process of doing a F3 fork internal upgrade to my 1998 VFR and noticed that the small damping screw is stuck. I tried every screw driver I had and it will not budge. I tried PB Blaster, Deep Creep, WD-40, etc etc etc.....and nothing seems to want to break it loose. My last resort was to remove the damping rod from the main rod and submerse it in kerosene. I was going to try and use an EZ-out but I am not sure if I can drill that s.o.b. If anyone has any ideas then please feel let me know. It's days like this that I really hate owning a motorcycle :chaingun:

One of the best ways to unstick screws, bolts etc is to hit them with a hammer. This will break the threads loose most of the time. Get a screw driver that fits good or a punch. Put it solid on the head a give it a few sharp raps with a hammer. This normally will shock the threads from each other. Great for aluminum and steel threads.

That's a good idea, to bad my mechanic thought of it already. If anything I may have hit it really hard and I hope I did not deform the soft as butter brass screws (or at least they look like brass). I am going to buy a MAPP gas torch and try to expand the aluminum while spraying some DEEP CREEP before I throw all these parts in the garbage.

Then the only thing left is to drill out and tap.

I don't even know how that damper screw is attached in there. Is it screwed to the rod? threaded to the fork cap?
