Hey all. Just changed oil today and noticed an extremely strong smell of gas in the used oil. Last oil change was in Nov. 08. I had approx. 2300 miles on the old oil. I expect some gas odor in used oil but this seemed to be very strong. BTW - I have an 06. Don't understand this since the bike has FI? What say uins?

How long is your average trip? If the oil doesn't get up to operating temp ~>180F regularly fuel and condensation will start to build up, this happens on cages often that are driven mainly on short trips.

take a look at your plugs to check for a dark, overfueled condition that would tend to confirm the brilliant analysis of the Porcmeister.

yeah, im with Squirrel on this one. check the normal stuffs. Black soot around the exhaust, wet spark plugs, let the oil sit and see if the gas comes to the top in forms of little areas of flat looking bubbles.
