I just got an '84 vf750 that has been dropped, and I'm debating turning it into a street-fighter style bike. The metal cage to which the upper plastic attaches has been bent all to hell, as well as the headlight mounting bits, etc. I have a spare 7" headlight housing, but what concerns me is the removal of everything up by the headlamp. I don't want to remove anything that will adversely affect the performance of the bike (the vaccum canisters (?)). I've ordered a service manual, but any advice from someone who's already stripped one down would be appreciated!

I'm in the process of do this as well for the same reason. I'm attempting to fab up some brackets to mount a 7" round headlight and the gauges as well as make a custom flyscreen. I don't want to go with anything too fancy so I'm trying to resemble a CB900.
