A friend and I went on a 300 miler and were riding pretty aggressivley. about 100 miles from home my VFR began to vibrate a certain rpm ranges. I mean hard enough to shake the mirrors big time. She still seems to be running strong and starts and idles fine so this is perplexing to say the least. The vibration seems worse if you let the engine lug down a bit or in the 3500 to 4000 rpm range. Anyone ever experienced this or have a clue as to what's going on.

First of all, I'm assuming you have a either a '98-'01 or a '02-'08 model. It's not a good idea to have the bike running below 4K rpm. You'll lug the engine and it's normal to get some vibration. Ideally, you want to ride above 4K rpm. See if that makes the vibrations go away.
