Still no blinkers

Ok, so after looking at everything I could think of I still couldn't find a pinched wire or any signs of a short. So I took it to the dealer to see if they could find the problem. After a few hours (and 80 bucks) he told me its a bad turn signal relay.. Does this make sense to anyone? When i replaced the fuse I turned the key on and everything worked fine, but when I start the bike it blows the fuse. If it is/was the relay wouldn't the fuse blow as soon as the key is turned on? Why is it only when I hit the starter that the fuse blows? And the relay cost $75 dollars!! Thanks for the help all. Bill..

 

Not sure, but did it fix the problem? If they charged $75 for the relay and no additional labor that is probably not a bad deal for the fix.

 

when you start the bike your creatring a load on the electrical system....pop goes the fuse

 

sure bad relay sounds right. it craps out and causes things that normally not to be grounded to be. that will diff. blow a fuse every time. just think of it as protecting from your bike going up in flames. the stealers will charge you up the a@$ every time.

 

Ok thanks all, I'm gonna look on line to see if I can find it any cheaper. $75 is just for the part, not installed..

 

My fuse would blow if I had the blinkers on and honked the horn.... Turns out I had moisture in the relay!!! I have an older bike, but eletricity has changed in the last 15 years just electronics. Sounds like the same thing to me ( shorted relay, additional power, fuse blows )
