    Hi all,

Just got an 02 vfr800 vtec and have noticed when the throttle is opened fully then when trying to close it sticks, I couldn't remove the right hand switch gear fully to properly grease the cables so jst squirted some in the cable hole and opened and closed the cable, it feels like it not the cable but something under the airbox.

    Ideas?

    Cheers

There is some cross linkage on the left side. That may need some attention. The return spring is there as well. Make sure it is working correctly. There are two cables to the 6th gen throttle, make sure both are free and not sticking.

    Cheers

Has the bike been worked on lately ? One common cause of sticking is improperly routed cables or too little freeplay in cables.

Use spray on litnum grease on the linkages after you clean them with carb cleaner. Brake clean works great too.

Good substitute for litnum is jig-loo spray lube. Dont bother with wd-40 or other oil based lubes, you will just be cleaning it again in 500 miles.

ok, so I've taken the cables off and lubed them inside, lubed all linkages the cables attach to, checked the routing and cleaned and oiled the butterfly vavles, also lube the throttle grip, at stand still the throttle doesn't stick open but when opened full on the move it sticks and holds itself open.

    Ideas?

Try isolating the problem to either the cables/throttle control or the throttle bodies. Disconnect the throttle cables from the throttle body and open the butterfly valves all the way by hand. Do the butterfly valves still stick open? If so, there still a problem with the throttle bodies. If the butterfly valves snap shut, the problem is isolated to the cables.
