    Hello all,

I wonder if anyone can help me with some advice, just recently i've started having some issues with changing down the gears on my '88 fj. It only seems to happen when i've come to a stop at a junction and i need to change down to either first or to find neutral.
I toe down the gears in the usual way to find first but although i know that i'm in 3rd or 4th the gearbox wont click down any further giving the impression of being in first but still being in the higher gear. The first time this happened i stalled the bike and was unable to restart it as it was in gear, it was only after some random and optimistic messing about with the gears that i restarted it.
the bike seems to change down ok when moving, even at low speed but when stationary i have the problem.

Any ideas guys, i'd welcome your thoughts.

    Cheers

    Jason (London UK)

Sounds like you clutch is possibly not releasing all the way . Inspect the slave cylinder as you work the clutch lever , some have had issues with unwanted movement that will cause this problem.
