I´ve got problem with stability of my VFR 800 (1999) when I ride it higher 180 km/h on the road that is not in excellent condition and sometimes it happens on the highway as well. The bike begins to sway and it lasts till I throttle back. Then it gets calm and the ride is safe again. I don´t know what to do. There seems to be problem with set up of the suspension and the chassis as a whole. The motorcycle has steering damper as well but it helps just a little. Could anyone let me know where the problem could be and how to set up the suspension? Thanks

that sounds similar to a problem I had on another bike a few years ago. The mechanic at the dealer told me I probably needed my front end worked on. I think he said new springs maybe? It's been a few years so I'm not 100% positive that's what he said, though.

Thx, the previous owner of my VFR used to ride it always with his girfriend and he told me that the bike is set up for the ride in two and if I plan to ride it mostly single then I have to get the suspension and the chassis adjusted. He told me as well that he had to change rear forks because his previous owner used to go to the seaside and salt and sand caused damage in form of grooves (scraks) so that he had to replace tubes in rear forks. Maybe he used bad materials but he said he had them made by professional.

    What exactly does "sway" mean?

Does the handlebar feels like it's shaking?

Does the bike pull to one side only?

Have you checked your front tire lately? how are the treads on the front tire? what's the air pressure?

Does your front wheel spin smoothly between the fork when it is off the ground?

Have you balanced the front tire/wheel lately?

Is your steering bearing in need of replacement?

if its to high .. it feels like im driving on the front tire..

I´ve tried hard to find out where the problem comes from and I think the problem is really connected with rear suspension. It´s too soft and when I ride the bike through bows on the road and the bike "plunges", the shaking goes and graduates towards handlebars and it causes instability of the motorcycle. I´m sure that right setting of my rear suspension could solve the problem, but I have it set the hardest and it still isn´t hard enough to stop the shaking when I ride it faster. I have checked the steering, tyres and undergone all above suggested tests and I think there is no steering damage. Is there any other possibility to set the suspension (rear) harder? Is it common problem at all VFR´s (800)? Or is that sign of punishment of some parts?
