    Hi all,

Hope everyone had a decent Christmas/New Year.

Unfortunatley my trusted 1998 inteceptor dies (again) on the way to Manchester yesterday - fine on the motorway, pulled up at traffic lights and the lights started to dim followed by engine cut out. Luckily I had my jump pack with me under the seat so managed to quickly fire it up and off I went. I bought a new battery for the journey home today and have checked the voltage; when i have the headlights on I am not getting above 12v on the multimeter so I am thinking the reg rec is on the blink again. Previously I had issues with burned wire on the reg rect so removed the block connectors, added additional wire and that did solve the problem (see image below)

I am going to strip down the bike at the weekend and order a reg/rec but I am going to test the stator (again) just to be sure - I just want to check that I am doing this right (if someone can confirm).

    Plan is:

Disconnect the stator wiring from the reg/rec
Set multimeter to Ohms (lowest setting)
Engine off, test the resistance on each of the wires (1-2, 1-3, 2-3) and ensure that the resistance is between 0.2 and 0.5 ohms
If everythign is ok, then replace the reg rec
If not ok, replace the stator and the reg rec together

Just want to check I am on the right lines with this - appreciate this has been discussed numerous times on here but just need to sense check for my own sanity

The mrs is away this weekend so have an oppurtunity to actually play in the garage and try and solve this once and for all :)

Replace the OEM R/R with an FH020AA (used on later Yamahas such as Tracer or FJR's) or a good series R/R is SH866A from a Kawasaki Versys 1000. Highly recommend using the RoadsterCycle harness.
