Greetings everybody. I haven't been here in ages.

After 17 years, my stator finally burned out. I AM NOT wanting to rehash all the electrical posts. I have 1 question.

I'm getting a new stator with heavier coils & larger output wire from customrewind.com & the RR from Roadstercycle.com.

The question: I installed the VFR harness from wiremybike.com 4 years ago. Should I remove it or not?

    Thanks

My 2 cents is to shitcan it. I have seen threads where it caused problems. -- If you wire direct (2nd graphic) like the roadstercycle recommends you will be fine. (Ignore the compufire inference, replace with FH020AA)

So the OEM connector is simply not used & tucked away?

I'm getting the Shindengen FH020AA, the 30 amp CB & the LED Voltage monitor.

Yes - this guy - I sealed it up like the 2nd picture. Just used some 1 inch schrink tube and stuff it in the bike.
Also - note for your stator - get extra long leads that will go all the way to the R/R. That way you can just use the Standard stator connectors that are supplied from Roadstercycle and go direct to the R/R. Much cleaner.
Lastly the 3 pic is at tip for the positive lead connection. Large HD eyelet and a good way to the battery. If you want you could reuse the fuse box off the VFRness. Its a beefy piece with 8 gauge wire on it. (last pic)

If you are getting a high output stator, you should go with the series SH847 rr from roadstercycle.

I spoke to the guy at Custom Rewind. He said I'll see no real difference in output & he doesn't recommend using larger coils unless I need extra output. So, I'm going with a stock rebuild. Roadster is selling me their super kit & Jack said it's literally stupid simple to install. He said if I know my way around my bike, the entire install should take 30 min.

I guess I cant complain, Yellow No. 2 has only let me down twice in 17 years. Truly a faithful steed.
