I have a 91 VFR 750 with 60,000 miles. I went in to a dealership and they showed me that the output decreases with throttle. Does anyone know if this is the Stator or the voltage regulator receptical?

So obviously he tested with a volt meter right?

From what I have learned, its ok if it does decrease a little, however nothing to excessive.

    How much did it drop?

Yes he tested it with a voltage meter. It looked like it went from 13.??? to 12.??? I believe it was about a half a point or so. Also prior to this I had a battery go out too.

Probably and R/R issue. But the stator needs to be checked as well, me thinks. R/R voltage should increase from 12.89 @ idle to 14.5 + @ 5,000 rpm. Stator should put volts out in increasing numbers up to around 75 volts i think. If it drops off any then the stator may be defective. Your dealer/mech should be able to test it properly.

Yeah, if its well below 13.5 then its most likely your R/R.

    stator

if one or two legs of the stator open then you'll have the same condition.
