Stator cover gasket question

Those of you who have replaced your stators- did you leave the gasket dry or use a sealant? If sealant, just the outside? I know about sealing around the plug.

I can't stand leaks, so I used a really light smear of blue never set gasket compound on both sides of the stator gasket.

It may not be what the workshop manual describes, but it seems to have worked so far

That sounds like a good plan. Is it the same stuff you put around the plug?

 

I put them in dry, I do stone the surface for smooth and flat prior install :thumb:
