starter compatibility

1985 vf700f interceptor. Starter has gone the way of the dodo. For a cheap replacement of fleabay is it possible to install one from a 1985 vf700s Sabre? Has anyone tried this?

Talk to the people at Caltric. They'll have a new one for you. I got one for my sabre, it's literally brand new, and half the cost that I expected. It looks the same as yours, but I can't say for sure it will fit. The part numbers are slightly different.

You can also get brush kits that would probably work, although I tried that and ended up replacing the assembly anyway because my commutator had 8 sides worn into it.....
