    I have a '95 vfr750 with a cracked starter clutch housing.

When replacing the starter clutch, do I need to mark the position of the starter clutch? It has hash marks on the starter clutch face as pictured in the post "replace starter clutch with pictures"? My question: is the clutch timed...by the Ignition Pulse Generator? These two pieces (pulse generator pick-up) are mounted right at the starter clutch wheel. And with the marks T1, T2, T3, T4 on the face ...I'm wondering if any misalignment when reassmbling will cause a problem. If you have any experience at this please advise. Couldn't find this thread in the forum.
    Thanks
    Chris

I don't know, but I'm sure someone on here does.

    Consider your thread bumped.

I can tell you that I just completed the replacement of the starter clutch on my 95 vfr750 and I am having timing troubles... I am looking into it further myself, just bumping again... let me know if you have success with replacing yours.

I replaced the starter clutch, but when I removed it - I took the time to mark the placement of the T1 T2 T3 as if a clock. So when I put the new disk back on, I assume I did it correctly as the bike runs fine. I did not get feedback about the markings from anyone. My next choice would have been to simply ask the Honda dealer. Anyhow, that project is done.

One more thing. If I remember correctly, the splined shaft had a flat spot on it so the disk can only go on one way, thus - no jumping a space or so when remounting it on the spline. Brilliant. Nice engineering on this bike.
