Ok I have now broken two in the last two weeks on my 85 VF750. Is there an upgrade for these because the spares are getting few and far between. It seems the plastic shaft gives way on one side of the start switch and then when I try to start the bike it either dos'nt start, the headlight wont come on, or the button sticks then melts. Can it be rebuilt?
    Need some help here guys.

Try the Eastern Beaver Company online, they sell top quality Japanese motorcycle electrical parts at a fair price. I have seen their universal replacement handlebar switches and everything I've gotten from them has been top notch.

    gen 5

Got tired of it myself, gen 5 is what I put on my gen 2. Plugs right in no mods, I think that is the same for all gens.

Really!? If thats the case I'm definatley going to upgrade both sides with new assemblies. I love the original look but I need to be practical and get out riding. Managed to MacGyver up the assembly to get me back on the road for now ( not too noticable untill you look right at the switch)
    Thanks for the advice

I didn't like the action of the stock starter button on my R so when it broke I replaced it with one from a Night Hawk S. Exact same look but has a square button, plug and play, that has given me no problems for 10 years.

    hold your horses

The left side on gen2 f1 is very different and requires some surgery to make it happen, not sure about gen 1 ......you may be ok but only you will know when you try. Gen 2 f1 is a sub harness but is not on f2 model so you may get lucky and not have to mate wires.
