I Tightened my chain (2008 VFR 800) last weekend and I have a question on whether or not I did something I shouldn't have.

Never owning a VFR (or any other bike that has a SSS) I went by my old habbits. 1) never read the owners manual before hand... and 2) assume that you just loosen the rear axle bolt and slide the rear wheel back till the tension is correct.

AFTER I loosened the rear axle bolt, I nudged the wheel and it didnt move (imagine that...) Confused I pulled out the manual and found the correct way to tighten the chain. I re-torqued the rear axle bolt and went on performing the correct way to tighten the chain.

My question is this. I've never worried about having a "tight" spot in the chain while rotating the wheel, but did I commit a cardinal sin by loosening and then re-tightening the rear axle bolt? Or am I just being paranoid with my new bike and the "tight" spot in the chain?
