I'm curious about what you guys are doing with aftermarket exhausts out there. I took my spuds out of my LV's and its really loud. With them in it almost sounds stock.(no happy medium) Are you keeping them in or letting the V4 sing freely through those pipes? I like the sound. It sounds angry, nothing like it sounds when its stock!! Kind of like Bruce Banner turning into the Hulk..... :strong:

I haven't installed the spud in my Staintune, ever & don't really forsee a reason to. It sounds just fine the way it is.

    GEAR DRIVEN CAMS RULE!!!

Sorry, I know this is the 6th Gen part. I simply couldn't help myself.

    KC-10 FE out...

Thats alright.... Gear driven cams do sound awesome but I do like not having a can blocking that exposed rear wheel too. Maybe we'll get both next generation. I'll hold my breath and wait for Honda to listen..... call me blueboy.

    spuds

Anyone have a spud for a Staintune they could sell? I need one for my gen 5 with a Staintune. (Where I live, I have to keep the noise down).

My Lasers came with 2 different kinds, Euro legal, and I guess US legal? Well I didn't even think about putting them in and the pipes aren't all that loud. Actually, the VFR is quieter with no mufflers at all than my Superhawk with chopped 2Bros cans. Something like a V4 should be kinda loud so Gixa riders look at you funny and wonder what the hell it is. Tell them whatever you want. Many people don't even understand the V concept or number of cylinders thingy. Hell, tell em its a 2 stroke.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have them out and I finally got a good ride in. The sound is just right for the bike and after I got used to it, its not really that loud. I think the difference from before was just sort of a shock. I don't know if its my imagination but the motor seems more usable at lower revs now. Just noticed that if someone slows way down and I decided to be lazy and not downshift it doesn't laugh at me when I twist the throttle. Its a totally different bike now.

that's great to hear Alter Ego. i just purchased LV slip-ons for my '06, unfortunately they're on back order for another couple weeks :(
i can't wait to get them and slap 'em on and hear the V4 wake up. how is it at higher rpm? significantly louder than stock? just curious.
    cheers,
    Jeff

Jeff, The time they seem to be loudest is in 1st and 2nd gear accelerating away from a stop. They seem to resonate and "harmonize" together. I think the low and mid range is really improved and the sound when you are rolling on and off the throttle in 3rd and 4th is music. I got a thumbs up from someone on a Blackbird today.... I can't hear what it sounds like up top because of wind. I'll have to have someone do a ride by so I can hear it. It took a couple of weeks for mine to come in but I know how you feel. You've probably already had your stock pipes off in your mind so many times!!! The hardest part of the install is the straps that hold the silencers on come with a rubber insert that doesn't stay on and makes the whole process a pain. Good luck and enjoy the sound when you get them on there.
