Good evening, I'm helping a VFR owner with a chain and sprocket replacement. The dealer has given us a DID 530 chain, 17 front and 43 rear sprockets. The bike is a 2001, non ABS, non V-TEC bike. All of the specs for the chain and sprocket are correct with the DID web site. The chain will go on, however, it is either fitted with a large clamp to force the chain over the rear sprocket, with the wheel adjustment in it's absolute shortest position, or by having the chain set so the wheel adjustment is equal to the "replacement" setting on the swing arm. Question, could this bike be mislabeled and it should be using the 16 tooth front sprocket? Thanks for any info. Vger.
should be 108 link chain for a 1998-2001 model VFR.. and i believe it is 17 front and 43 rear... Sounds like they gave you a chain that was a link or 2 short.. 108 links is what it calls for.. www.ronayers.com has detailed microfiche that you can look at and has all the specs ...
