    Hi All
I have a vfr issue: my speedo reads high.
My 94 read 8-10 mph high at 60mph, but I never really looked into it.
My 01 however reads higher the faster you go.
I measured it with a gps unit on a trip this weekend and found the following:
    speedo -- 45 gps - 37
    speedo -- 65 gps - 56
    speedo -- 100 gps - 90
    speedo -- 150 gps - 134 --- big smile here!!!!!!
The spokets and chain are stock sizes and the tires too?!?!

Is this common or is my speedo an ego booster?

Sorry, I don't wear a speedo...I think Scubalong does though!

The speedo being off is common on bikes......the faster you go, the more the speedo will be off. Being 8MPH off on 80 is common on bikes.

Stuka, what are you doing in Scubalong's speedos :shocked::puke:

I was at an indicated 138MPH but my gps was reading 128.8mph. These gauges are quite inaccurate. Look into getting a Speedo-Healer. I hear this fixed the problem if it bothers you that much.

The reason the difference between actual and indicated gets larger the faster you go is because the speedometer is off by a percentage. So the faster the actual speed the larger the error on the indicator, usually 8 to 10 % (and no mention of bathing attire what so ever).

I'll try a speedo under my roadcrafter, but i'm not sure that will help!
I found a max speed/trip setting on my gps and I want to try it out,
as soon as I fix this dam-r/r problem.
No warp speed with only 11.2volts!!!
    Thanks
