ok. has anyone ever came across a problem with the speedometer?
awhile ago my speed-o gave out. thought it would be the cable, so stop on the way home to replace it. replaced it with no problems. took it for a spin and no speed-o reading... looked further into it. checked the nylon nut at the 45 degree point where cable enters the motor. (sorry i don't know the name of this part.) there was some wear but worked. put a wireless drill to the cable to see if i could get a reading at the speedometer. no such luck. never really heard of the meter giving out before. never know tho.
on a side note. i run a gps to get my speed. are there after-market speedometers?

it's unliklely that its your speedo. I have snapped 2 cables (once at 4K miles, second at 8K). more thank likely (if the cable is intact) its the speedo end not fully engaged inside the speedo. You need to take all the plastics off the top, reseat the cable (looks like cableTV) and then do the bottom into the transfer case (90 degree bend). while you have the top apart, lubricate generously and let run out the bottom (chain lube OK)

Best to keep sloppy lube away from instruments, so wipe down top 2" of inner speedo cable.
