I've been watching Super Bikes on Speed the last couple nights due to the lack of anything better to watch. Is it just me or this show one of the greatest disservices to the riding communtiy @ large. After watching several episodes I can hosestly say the only thing of interest or technical merit that impressed me was a Euro rider on a 650 BMW. He was riding in a stunt competition & was basically riding the beemer like a trials bike was very fluid & technical. Everything else I've seen makes riders look like a bunch of F'ing idiots w/ some kind of death wish. Not the image that I think best serves the greater good in my in opinion. Chime in with your own opinions

I think you are overeacting a bit.......The BMW guy is Christian Pfeiffer. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Everybody has the right to interpret what they think motorcycling is all about, whether you agree with it or not is irrelevant. They wrote the Constitution for this very reason.........Act how "you" think you should act and "you" will be ok.

IMO...that show is a joke....and that is why I do not watch it. I am not a Jason Britton fan either. He is too cocky and acts like a disrespectful know-it-all to some of the people on there I think....he is a good stunter though....IMO

Here comes the flamefest....I am outta here....:bolt:

I agree with you both. The show DOES suck, so I don't watch it.

The guys name is Jason BRITTON! Jason Pridmore is actually somebody from a completely different discipline of motorcycling, but I won't get into that here. :tape:

Thanks for correcting me Ronnie. I changed my post. Jason Britton was who I meant to say. I saw him at the LB bike show. I would usually say that anyone with the name "Jason" is a great guy...but he is the exception.

At this point in his road racing career, Pridmore is probably happy to have been mentioned.

Jason retired from AMA Roadracing a couple of year back. He now runs Star Motorcycle Schools, helping guys like me that need the help, lol!

Overreacting??? just stating an opinion( something the constitution gives me the right to have & voice by the way), I can see remotely the entertainment value or the occasional human interest themes they touch on ( ie. the gentleman that lost his legs above the knee due to a birth defect that was out stunting on a quad & in team exibitions). The thing that gets me is this the face of motorcycling you wish the general public to associate you with when your out riding? There is definetly a severe lack of anything that resembles safety displayed on the show( if you where to need examples you obviously haven't paid any attention to the show). The other thing you can't pretend is that this all occurs on a closed course indicating that this is only a competion. They are showing amatuer riders doing stupid $h!t in public, in route & @ their "secret locations". So yes I understand the entertainment side of it, but it does very little for PR; something we all need to be concerned with whether you care to admit it or not.

    Norcal:

They (as in our founding fathers) wrote the constitiution to protect the individual from undue goverment interfence which would impeed the progress of one's life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

The constitution DOES NOT guarantee any protections on what "everybody has the right to interpret what they think motorcycling is all about".

Not trying to troll, but I think many of us jump the gun on issues and try and use our beloved contitution as some back up when its an issue the government has no jurisdiction on.

I've watched a few episodes. I like to see some of the customized sportbikes. There was an episode where they went riding at Deal's Gap and stopped by McCoy's. They had built this custom bike with all the "goodies" on it - had a sort of spiderman design. It amazes me what the guys at McCoy motorsports can do.

I have to disagree here, if you have ever watched more than a single episode you will come to find Jason and his crew (I think 3 other riders) are very much believers of ATGATT, the shows do show different events that Jason & Team appear, they have no control over other participants attitude towards gearing up.

True, this is shown in most episodes, but when you are are riding do you go out of your way to disipline every other rider on the road you see for not wearing a particular piece of gear or riding styles? Thats what the police are for. I live in a no helmet state but religiously wear full gear all the time, its not my place to preach my choice of waering gear to others who prefer not to.

With an extreme lack of any truely good motorcycle programing on TV, this show gets limited viewing time from me - If I can't ride I would like to at least watch other riding.

I have also gone to a few events that Jason showed at, I thought he came off as a pretty cool guy, and at the events I attended he did preach (especially to the kids in the crowd) that wearing gear is the only way to ride (which is a promo for him as well since he owns Icon).

Hiya folks! Time for me to join the fray!!!

I used to watch the show weekly when I had TV, just since it was the only Motorcycle thing on my channels, and I do think wheelies and stoppies are cool (I cant do em well, probly never will). I dont think it is hip that the guys ride in t-shirts and shorts, but they know the risks, and they know their audience, they do what they feel is cool.

I met Jason Britton last fall in PA at a MC show, hung out for a bit, watched him do stunts on a brand new Aprilia, really sweet bike, and he wore a full jacket, gloves, boots, pants, helmet. Of course, some of the silly's in his act rode with barely anything, but as was previously stated, that is their perrogative.

Of course some of it is dumb. The visits to the LA and East coust MC Gangs to hear guys yelling (and I quote) "If you caint do a hundred-eighty on the freeway for more than an hour, youz cant roll wit us" were favorites of mine. (then im betting casey stoner cant "roll wit them") There are stupids in every sport and walk of life, just dont be one of them and you are doing your part.

For my part, I am entertained by wheelies, stoppies, stuff that I cant do, neat looking bikes, their travel to cool riding locations that I may never go. They went to japan and rode, they go all over. If I had TV, I would still watch the show. Not cause I am a t-shirt-flip-flops squid, but cause I like bikes, and any show with bikes in it beats the other BS on tv these days.

Judging from the youtube crowd...the wrong idea is way out there and doin fine. Who's to say if the show feeds that or not. I just have too much respect for the investment in my bike and the delicate-ness of my body. I only get one brain. I think I would like to continue to use it for a while, thank you.

You be concerned with PR if you want, I was just thinking that the judgement of what other folks do in their lives smacks of oppresive behavior. Too many people in this world have a hard time minding their own damn business. I prefer to live and let live.

I think the show's theme music sucks bawls. The graffitti artist does a poor interpretation of the stunt world. The show's name has little to do with Superbike racing and should be changed.... so to make my critism constructive  What would you name the show?

Here are some of my ideas:

    Stunted Growth
    Train'in Wheelz
    Wheelie World
    Road Rationalization

I might enjoy the show more if it had "Jason's Juggies" that rode on the back in thongs or something like on the man show.

Touche', and I'm not stating I would condone any oppressive action that would take away any ones freedom to do as they please( I support everyones right to win themselves a Darwin Award). Just that it's probably not in our best interest to have undue attention drawn to the actions of the few that may in turn negatively affect the many. As the "Man" usually makes desicions for the many based on the actions of the few.
