FJR is bigger and heavier I believe. And also known for being extremely hot in the summer. I see alot of them for sale already. The VFR is much sportier and more agile. 5th gen especially. I never met a bike that could blow me off yet.

I have a 93 (3rd gen) and I have no problems keeping up with my buds that ride gixxers and ceebers and it handles the curves well. And for me, at 5' 7", I find it very comfortable.

can't go wrong with any year model, gets down to personal likes and dislikes thou the 94-97 is more sportier than the 5th gen and so on to the 6th gen but again can't go wrong with any of them. hey! here's an idea be the first one to get an 07 RWB?

I've done a whole bunch of 500+ mile rides on my '06 (02-06 is 6th gen) and originally it wasn't very comfortable after the first 200 miles. Since then I've rasied the handle bars (simple adjustment) and bought a Zero Gravity Double Bubble tall windscreen. Now I beleive once a I get a new seat this will truelly be an 'all day ride' bike.

I see the VFR as a sport bike with factory comfort settings and the FJR as a touring bike that's been choped to be more sporty. From what I hear the VFR is 'quicker' that the FJR becuase it is smaller and more nimble.

Can you keep up with your friends pure sport bikes? Of course. Last weekend my friend on a Honda 919 couldn't keep up with me in the corners. I mean TOTALLY couldn't keep up and he's a good rider.

That FJR1300 is much bigger. If I had to go 1000 highway miles tomorrow and had choice I'd take the FJR. For around town and through the twisties for sport riding the VFR800 is better. But like I said, after a couple of comfort mods it's totally good for touring. My last 6 hour ride was fine. It wasn't like riding a Goldwing... but it was still fine.

In comparison I couldn't ride my CBR600 for more that 2 hours at any givin time.

I actually had the opportunity to ride a friend's '05 FJR after riding an '02 VFR when I was considering buying a new bike. If you're looking to ride with zxr/cbr/gsxrs I'd definitely go with the VFR, it's much more nimble in the twisties. The FJR is a great bike, don't get me wrong, but like was previously posted, the FJR is more designed to bang out those 1000 mile-a-day rides, for twisities and sport riding the VFR has the advantage. For me, its perfectly comfortable in it's stock form...even the seat.

I did over 300 with a backpack on and it was miserable then I did 400or so without the backpack and I felt great. My bike was purchased with a givi windshield, sargent seat and helibars though. I thick Rick rode his in stock form from SF to Washington state so that's around 900 miles or so in a day. I believe his comments were I'm ordering a sargent seat today...he may even have added heli bars, I can't remember...

On my 2000 vfr I rode from Greeley Co to north of Des Moines Ia in about 10 hours or so, thats around 700 miles, I felt fine at the end of the day, I have upgraded my suspension though, but have done several 4 to 600 miles days in the stock form, also I'm 50 yrs young, for what ever thats worth!

700 miles in 10 hours  are you sure your not 21 years old? I rode 840 miles in 16 hours and I don't think I could have done it no faster, My butt was really talking too me after 200, one day after I was home the Sargent was on the way!!! Second best purchase so far "Staintunes first". 400 miles two weeks ago and I wasn't even the least bit sore. I never got the Heli's, position doesn't bother me at all.

Not to be nosey, but what kind of suspension work did you do and how much did it cost, I never should have rode RVFR's bike because his front end was so smooth it made me want to get suspension work done the next day. I figure that little 20 minute ride is going to cost me at least $500.00. THANKS JAY!!!

Hey RW. you're welcome, wasn't that bad, call Race tech for updated prices. Now wait till you ride it with the WP on the rear.

RW, I have race tech springs and valves, and a Penske Sport shock in the back, also a Sargent saddle and stock bars, it's pretty easy making good time on I-80 when you start your day at 4:30 am! you're pretty close on the front end, my Penske was 600 bones.

Anything for a future VFR family member, here you go...

$449.00 for the Staintune pipes with $8.00 shipping. $458.00 Total...Staintunes not the cheapest pipe, but was my preference. Had to talk them down on the shipping, but they will do at that price.

Sargent Seat $316.00 Total price... Free shipping!!! They charge extra $20.00 extra for yellow accent on the 2000 VFR's, because the Yellow VFR's owners are such unique individuals  :pound:

I also have an 06 VFR and love it.. I have taken a 633 mile ride on the all stock bike.. and wasnt bad at all..I did raise the bars.. and Remus exhaust so not really all stock.. But close enough.. I dont have the aftermarket seat..
I had a cruiser and the VFR was 100 time better than my old cruiser ever was..
And I talk to alot of guys that ride the VFR and they say the same thing.
Speacilly if you have forward pegs on the cruiser.. It is very hard on your back .. The VFR is very comfortable..
I would never go back to a cruiser now..
